What Does a Financial Planner Do and How Do I Benefit?

0

Financial planners, also known as personal financial advisors in some markets, a professionally-training experts who help consumers plan their personal finances.

They first focus on identifying the consumer’s goals and objectives for the future, whether that be retirement, paying for their kids’ college or all the above.

Then, they go a step further, and identify the details of how that portfolio of goals can be reached with the assets on hand, what is possible in terms of being earned, and how it can be invested or saved with different financial tools.

Good financial planners will then provide a clear report on what can be reached with the consumer’s current path, and what can be reached with changes going forward. This last part is where the financial planner really provides some of the most powerful help possible for the consumer.

Where Can I Find a Financial Planner?

Financial planners can be found in both large financial institutions as well as in independent offices. Neither is automatically better than the other; the success of a good financial planner is their dedication to fiduciary duty and working in the best interests of the client.

This involves both the near and long-term careful planning to reach targets and see challenges ahead of time before they become a problem, not after the fact. That includes:

  • Savings,
  • Investing,
  • Taxes,
  • Changes in needs,
  • Families growing and decreasing, and
  • End game retirement horizons.

Everybody can benefit from good, sound financial advice, no matter where they are in life. And, SDT Planning is available to help when you need it.
